Write your Senators!

I wrote my Senators today. Have you written yours?

I am writing concerning the health bill currently in the Senate. I have watched as the house voted to pass the bill, despite the disapproval of the majority of Americans. I would like to let you know I strongly disapprove of all current government measures for health care reform. I know many of the implications this bill has, and some of it's possible unintended consequences, plus the intended ones by those who would rather take America to Hell than help people. Here are some of my thoughts:
1. I do not want the government in health care except to regulate sanitation practices.
2. No pay caps for doctors.
3. We need Medicare/Medicaid reform before the cost of health care goes down.
4. NO MORE TAXES! Not of any shape, size, or name.
5. NO MORE DEFICIT SPENDING! We need to pay back our debt and never add to it again.
6. No money for abortion. Period.
7. No more government control over any private industry. Government control runs countries into the ground. In the case of health care, I know hospitals will be forced to close, and doctors will stop practicing.
8. No butting into my finances or health records.
9. No rationing of care.
10. No individual insurance mandate or government plan approval requirement.
11. See this page for more thoughts of what needs to be done:
Basically, what I'm saying is that I want the government to stay out of my business and quit regulating free enterprise into the dirt. I will be watching how you vote on this and other government involvement issues.

Some Commander-in-Chief

Go take a look at this picture and tell me again that our current president is pro-America. To not even respect those who have died to preserve freedom is to stoop truly low.

Now for the fun stuff, taking a kid shooting

Yesterday between church services, I finally got to do something I had been planning on for a long while - take a 12-year old shooting. Sorry, no pics since I didn't get to ask his mother how she felt about them being on the web.

We ended up shooting four guns, my Bersa 380, S&W 22A, Springfield M6 Scout(which is for sale, should anyone be interested), and my M&P 15.
He had never fired a pistol before, and had only fired a 22LR and 410 a few times before, without much instruction, it seemed. He found love with two of my guns, the 22A and the M6. I will say he got to be pretty good with that pistol having never shot one before, and the shotgun, well, he nailed some milk jugs with it. We ended up shooting for at least 2 hours by the time it was all done.

Now, you have to understand, this is the kid that when I mentioned to others I was taking him shooting, they replied "Good Luck" and "Better wear a bullet proof vest". He is known for being slightly rambunctious to say the least, so perhaps they were correct to think that. It's not entirely his fault, as he doesn't have a father close by. He has a wonderful grandfather, but that only goes so far. He needs good male influence, and a lot of it.
However, we went over safety rules, and I made it very plain that failure to follow the rules results in an end to the shooting. He was VERY disciplined, and one time even caught me for forgetting to put a gun back on safe when done firing it. He now not only wants to go shooting again, but wants to go hunting with me this Saturday when deer season opens. His mom said it's completely up to me. I may be picking up a blind and having a kid with me.

Gotta scout his grandparents land in the next couple days to see where to set up. Good thing the gun is sighted in, cause I don't have much time left to get ready.

Take a kid shooting. Teach them responsibility and discipline, and you will impact them forever.

Senate Healthcare Bill

Good chance it could come up for a vote as soon as this week. Make sure to flood your Senators with calls, e-mails, letters, whatever. Just see that they get the point. It's our responsibility to keep the country free. We've already seen that Congress won't do it.

INSIGHT on Freedom: Global Warming Hoax = Global Governance

Longstreet provides a good read on the truth and real issues about climate change and the global treaty.

Also, over at his place, he has a graphic linking to a website that is a must-see.

Now that is disturbing stuff over there, and more reason to vehemently oppose this legislation.

Public Indoctrination Centers

Welcome to the Blogroll Rosey, from whom comes this article about the National Education Association.

Make sure to follow the link to the one book review he mentions. Shade on the scary side. Why I will home school when I have kids.

About what's in the house health bill.
Check it out.

Seriously, go. Now. Read it all.

Blast from the Past

WRSA brings us a blast from April. I wasn't even reading blogs then, much less trying to write one, so I found it fresh material. Worth a double take, even if you've seen it before.

What We Have To Do Now

So, the government takeover of healthcare passed in the House by a vote of 220-215. One step closer to tyranny. Now that it's out of the House, we need to focus our efforts on Senators. Even if you think they are on your side, make sure they hear from you. Phone calls, letters, e-mails, just flood the offices with whatever you can to tell them we don't want this bill in any form. The Senate seems to be the last chance. Make sure to take a look at this article via Liberty Sphere. I certainly hope he is right about it dying.

Old but exactly relevant

This is why it is such a big deal for us to fight the health bill. Yes, I know it's 10 minutes long, but Reagan sums it up very succinctly why we cannot allow anything resembling a socialized medicine bill to pass.

Between Two Rivers: "We have absolute immunity"

This is what our legal system is coming to. Not just the judicial, but also legislative and executive. We need to make sure they all know this: No immunity, total accountability. If not, prepare yourself for fetters and a heavy ball. Possibly quite literally.

Quote of the Day

William S. Lind is reported to have said: "Political Correctness is cultural Marxism. It is Marxism translated from economic into cultural terms. It is an effort that goes back not to the 1960s and the hippies and the peace movement, but back to World War I. If we compare the basic tenets of Political Correctness with classical Marxism the parallels are very obvious.” Lind goes on to say that American citizens are "afraid of using the wrong word, a word denounced as offensive or insensitive, or racist, sexist, or homophobic." He says that such changes can be attributed to the influence of cultural Marxists.
My emphasis in bold. Hence, why I do not play the PC game.
